A couple more Site Footnotes ...

Firstly Kelly Adams in a 2010 episode of Hustle.  In this scene she is dressed as Kylie Minogue as the hustlers con a sheik into thinking she is the real Kylie.  It is possible that her dress gapes to reveal her left nipple for a single frame although it's not certain enough to add an entry onto the main site.  The frame in question is pictured bottom left with a magnified version shown beside it.

Righting Wrongs: One Day (2011)

Hopefully this won't become too regular a feature, but I've just uncovered another incorrectly made identification, this time in the 2011 UK film One Day starring Anne Hathaway.

I watched it when it premiered on C4 in the past week expecting to see a scene that had been reported by websites and forums, etc, as being British actress Heida Reed which I intended to describe for a site entry.  Instead it turns out that the girl in the scene is redheaded French actress Joséphine de La Baume.

This one was really easy to check because the end credits are in appearance order and it's early on in the film when a number of the main characters are still making their first appearances.  The scene comes in between the first appearance of Ian (Rafe Spall) and the first appearance of Dexter's parents (Patricia Clarkson and Ken Stott).  Joséphine de La Baume is the only actress listed in that position. The girl in the scene has red hair and looks like pictures of Joséphine de La Baume.  The credits give her the name of "Marie" although that is not used in the dialogue and she doesn't speak and is not seen again in the film.

As for the dark-haired Heida Reed, her stated first appearance is after Ken Stott.  If you watch carefully she is seen as the 1991 sequence begins where she must be the girl kissing Dexter in the Mexican themed restaurant - her face is not seen (because his head covers it) and she has no dialogue.  Later on in another scene (in which she isn’t present) her character name of "Ingrid" is mentioned as being his girlfriend.  And later on still a girl who is probably her again is seen in the room whilst Anne Hathaway is talking on the phone to Dexter.  Here she has one minor line of dialogue but she is never really properly established in the film.

Another incorrect ID that I've not previously mentioned here because it was not from a particularly high-profile film is Tied in Blood (2012)

Websites reported it to be Laura O'Donoughue in the topless scene, but it turned out to be Amie Morris.

Never Mind The Quality Feel The Width (1973)

The 1970s saw a trend for making big screen versions of popular TV sitcoms featuring the original TV casts. A list of them appears at the bottom of this post.

All of them have been released on video and/or DVD with one exception:-  The 1973 film version of Never Mind The Quality Feel The Width has never been commercially released on video or DVD, nor shown on TV since maybe the 1980s.  Which seems somewhat odd for what was a regular mainstream film.

Never Mind The Quality Feel The Width was the story of two tailors, one Catholic and the other Jewish, going into a business partnership.  It started life as a one-off comedy drama in ITV's Armchair Theatre series in 1967 starring John Bluthal and Frank Finlay. It was soon commissioned as a full series made as a sitcom with Joe Lynch taking over from Frank Finlay.  This began later in 1967 and lasted for 40 episodes over six series until 1971.  The feature film spin-off came in 1973.

According to contemporaneous information noted by a site contributor the film was shown on ITV on 27 July 1978.  The contributor noted at the time that it contained topless scenes featuring Wendy King and Hilary Labow.

Now a confirming clip has emerged on YouTube taken from a vintage Yorkshire TV broadcast of it.  This 12 minute compilation clip was posted by actress Wendy King herself as a showcase of her performance and features all the scenes she was in (or what must be most of them anyway) including her topless scene which takes place on a building ledge.  The clip also features the end credits which show Wendy King was one of the main stars of the film according to the prominence of her placing (4th).  Hilary Labow is nearer the end of the credits and presumably had a much smaller role.  Her scene(s) do not appear in the clip.

The sitcom has been released as a DVD box set which contains all the episodes that still survive (29 of 40).  As for the feature film itself, the BFI are known to hold a 35mm print for hire so perhaps they will release it one day.

Wendy King

Above is an image of Wendy King taken from the clip.  I don't have an image of Hilary Labow from the film in question, but the image below is of her from another film from the same year entitled Sex Farm which is an obscure sex comedy genre film by Arnold L Miller which has recently turned up.  She was the star of that film alongside actress Amber Kammer.

Some Uncredited Roles To Be Identified #2

Here are some roles in TV shows in which the actress involved in a topless scene was given a character name but went uncredited.  If anyone has additional information that might lead to an identification please let me know in the comments.


BBC Shows

Holby Blue (BBC1/2007): episode 1 [short-lived police spin-off from Holby City] Uncredited character called "Stacy" who was the one-night stand of one of the policemen.  Her left nipple accidentally strayed above the frame of the shot while they were kissing in the bedroom before he left for work and then she throws his forgotten police cap down to him.  She had some dialogue.

Love Soup (BBC1/2005) - series 1, episode 4: They Do Not Move.  A full frontal poster of a celebrity called "Pascal Peters" features as a plot point, but she doesn't actually appear for real in the episode and was not credited.  It was presumably something specially created for the show though.

Most Sincerely (BBC4/2008) - Hughie Green biopic.  The actress playing young boy Hughie's mother was topless in a sex scene and had one line of dialogue but was not credited.

Messiah (BBC1/2005) ep: The Harrowing (3-parter) - murder victim "Catherine Cardell", 20-year-old psychology student, seen topless on a mortuary slab - briefly seen alive but not credited

Silent Witness (BBC1/2006) ep: Schism.  In this episode there are two dead victims named as "Jackie Cooper" and "Lisa Finch" who feature heavily in a longish scene in which they are placed in special glass chambers and scanned with ultra violet light.  Neither of them receive a credit.

Silent Witness (BBC1/2005) ep: The Meaning of Death.  Character "Dawn Pivcevic" seen briefly topless on an autopsy table, and seen alive in flashbacks, but non-speaking and uncredited.

ITV Shows

DCI Banks (ITV/2011) ep: Friend of the Devil.  Uncredited character called "Hayley Daniels" topless as a dead body on postmortem table

Case Sensitive (ITV/2011) -  2-part drama.  Uncredited character called "Maria Hey" seen topless in a bath in a death flashback scene

Falling (ITV/2005) - Non-speaking uncredited character called "Marietta" topless in a sex scene with Michael Kitchen

Wycliffe (ITV/1994) series 1, ep: The Dead Flautist.  She was a character called "Lizzie Biddick" who has been murdered and some saucy pictures of her are found, one is full frontal - but she is never seen alive or dead on-screen and is not credited at the end.  NOTE: The on-screen view of the photo is often now edited out of repeat transmissions.

Wire In The Blood (ITV/2006) - ep: Torment.  A previous victim called "Juliette" is pulled out on a mortuary shelf for a new examination to see if her fingernails have been painted in the same way as the latest victim

Channel 5 and Sky

Life and Death In Rome (Sky1/2005): Docudrama.  Two characters named as "Lydia" and "Daria" both topless getting into a roman bath.

Urban Gothic (C5/2001) series 2, ep: Necromance.  A featured, but non-speaking role as dead body in a morgue, named "Charlotte"
Topless as a dead body on a mortuary slab as a young student called Corum (Alastair Bruce) pulls away the sheet covering her and starts kissing her when Poppy (Susan Burnett) comes in and sees him - later full frontal nudity on the slab as Corum gets off her and Poppy takes a photo - then continuing to be seen topless as Corum and Poppy stand beside the slab talking and she encourages him to carry on kissing the dead girl.  NOTE: Her name is determined when Corum reads the tag on her foot - but she is never seen alive with any dialogue and is not credited.

A Mind To Kill (C5/1997) - series 2, episode 3, Game Plan - a character called "Mandy", topless and rear nudity on a beach with a non-topless friend (who is credited), they go separate ways and Mandy comes a cropper

Unidentified Sukie Smith Short

There is an as yet unidentified short film featuring Sukie Smith in a topless bath scene. The clip comes from a collector's compilation of scenes made in 1996 and so would have been shown on TV sometime around then. The title of the short was not indexed.

In the short clip she is topless laying back in a bath with clear non-soapy water. Before getting into the bath she stands in the bathroom and touches her arm which looks bruised, and then in the bath she tenderly touches her cheek which also looks like it may be bruised.

There is nothing on her IMDB credits that seems to fit the bill and it has remained an unsolved mystery.

On her agents website her CV contains a couple of shorts not listed on IMDB:-

Wedlock
Directed by Devon Dixon
Character Name: Sonya
Dated 1992 on the BFI database, but has no cast listed, and the director's name is spelt "Dickson"

Asking For It
Directed by Madeleine Hall
Character Name: Adele
Not listed on the BFI database
Although her CV doesn't use dates, it is listed in chronological order and so this short is between other things whose dates are known that would place it in the 1990-1992 range.

So the scene in question might well be from one of those two, but no other information on them has been found to be able to make any further progress.

The fact that she appears to be bruised perhaps resonates more with the title "Asking For It" if it was about some sort of domestic abuse situation, but I'm only speculating because the clip doesn't include any footage to indicate how she got the bruises.

Worthy Site Footnotes #3

Here are a some more Site Footnotes.  Although this time a couple of scenes featuring actresses who have since trumped these moments in other productions.

Alice Eve in Poirot: The Mystery of The Blue Train, from 2006, has a quite revealing-seeming moment when she jumps onto the back of a night-time intruder while wearing a dropping nightdress.  She has since appeared properly topless in the 2009 film Crossing Over.

Laura Haddock in the 2007 Comedy Showcase pilot for Plus One as she is rising from a sofa.  She has since appeared properly topless in the TV series Da Vinci's Demons.

Not The Nine O'Clock News - Baby On The Bus - further update

It's a bit of a mystery to me why, but the original Baby on the Bus post continues to be the most viewed post every week.  The behind-the-scenes Blog Statistics which tally up the number of times each post is viewed (in single-post view mode) shows that it tops the tables every week with hits coming in directly from people searching for information on the sketch via search engines.  It has had a vastly disproportionate 33% of all the hits received for all 25 posts placed so far.  But quite why that subject is of such keen interest, I don't know.  The next nearest one is 12.5% which was the one about Killing Bono.

Anyway since it seems to be of particular interest here is a further update to illustrate my negative findings (reported in the Round-Up in December 2013) which came after viewing the two Are You Being Served episodes to check if same woman who appeared in the sketch could be spotted, which would have been strongly supportive of her being Robina Gauge who is logged on the BBC Motion Gallery records as having appeared in both these AYBS episodes as well as the episode of the Not The Nine O'Clock News featuring the "Baby on the Bus" episode. 

The following collages show the people seen on screen who had non-speaking parts and were not shown in the end credits.  At the bottom of each collage is a reminder of the "Baby on the Bus" actress

It's feasible that she could be the extra in the black jacket at the bottom right if she's wearing a wig, but it's not possible to tell with any certainty.  This was the best view of those customers who are only seen on screen for a few seconds.

The extra on the right in the green top is watching the boxing match with Young Mr Grace and his (credited) nurse and secretary - she looks a bit like Penelope Wilton.

So as I say it's difficult to correlate any of the actresses as appearing in both episodes or any of them closely matching the Baby on the Bus actress.
