Heads Up #9: The Inspector Alleyn Mysteries

The Drama Channel are to be showing The Inspector Alleyn Mysteries starting on Monday 6th April.  The episode scheduled is Artists in Crime which was the pilot episode.

The 1990 pilot episode was actually called The Alleyn Mysteries and featured Simon Williams in the title role.  The full series with the longer title began in 1993 with Patrick Malahide taking over the main role.

Artists in Crime is the only episode known to have any nudity.  The plot involves an artist's model, played by Siri Neal, being murdered.

The only possible snag is that Drama are showing it at 8pm so whether it will be shown intact is unknown.  They did show the Dorothy L Sayers Mystery story Strong Poison uncut in the same 8pm timeslot and that too featured a topless art model.  However that scene was fairly innocuous whereas the scenes in this Alleyn Mystery are somewhat more conspicuous.

If it is cut then this will be another "Missing But Not Forgotten".

As seemed likely, it was shown edited.
Two minor bits of nudity were kept in (just to prove she was actually there I suppose) but the majority was missing which had the effect of rendering the plot a bit incomprehensible because the missing bits provided some important elements that helped explain certain things.

Site Enhancement

A slight enhancement to the Topless Review Actress Database has been implemented with today's update.

Specifically the New Entries and Changed Entries pages each now contain a subsection near the top of the page which lists the names that are new to the page for the current update - with a link that takes you directly to that entry.

This will save the need to scan down the page looking for red star flags.  If there are no new additions (which sometimes happens on the Changes page) then a message will indicate this.

Heads Up #7: Fallen Angel and Others

Three things to mention in the coming week that all happen to be on the Drama Channel.

Next Saturday is the second part of ITV's three-part drama Fallen Angel originally shown in 2007.  This part was the only one with any nudity which comes from both Cara Horgan and Niamh Cusack.

Also on this week is the start of BBC2's 1987 series of adaptations of Dorothy L Sayers' Lord Peter Wimsey stories starring Edward Petherbridge.  The first story Strong Poison has some known nudity from an art model.  All I have to go on for this is a clip from an ITV3 broadcast of it in the mid-2000s.  She is referred to as "Imogen" in the clip in which she is sitting posing for a woman artist with her left breast exposed while the woman artist is chatting to Lord Peter - I am told she was uncredited.  It is a three-part story and I don't know which episode it occurs in - it may be this week or in a subsequent episode over the next two weeks.

The above scene was included intact.  It occured right at the start of episode 2 (shown on 15th Jan). She was indeed uncredited.





Also on this week is the final episode of In Deep.  In this episode Karianne Henderson has an almost, but not-quite, topless scene in an open robe when she attempts to clumsily seduce Stephen Tompkinson.

Zoë Eeles in The Vanishing Man
This was a science fiction series made by ITV which lasted just for just one 6-episode series in 1998 following a pilot episode in 1997.  It starred Neil Morrissey as a convict who gains invisibility powers after he is experimented upon in prison.
This scene is from the final episode titled Retribution and takes place in the changing room of a gym.

They were identified as flight crew in the scene and both had brief lines of dialogue - the first was blonde and unnamed, the other was brunette and named as Geraldine - neither of them were acknowledged in the credits and had no other role in the episode besides this scene.  Their glamour girl type figures hint the possibility they might have been real-life models at the time.
If anyone can put a name to either or both of them that would be useful.
