Heads Up #13: The Wimbledon Poisoner

This coming weekend the True Entertainment channel are showing the 2-part BBC black comedy The Wimbledon Poisoner first broadcast in 1994.  It stars Robert Lindsay as a henpecked solicitor who decides to resort to drastic measures to rid himself of his nagging wife.

It has a topless scene featuring Melanie Kilburn.

Both at 9pm on True Entertainment

NOTE: I didn't realise until now, but I've been told that unfortunately True Entertainment is not available to Freeview viewers in Wales because the space needed for it is taken up by Welsh viewers having the Welsh language channel S4C.  True Entertainment is available on the Sky platform in Wales if that is an option for you.

Heads Up #12: A Likeness In Stone, etc

The True Entertainment channel are showing the 2-part BBC murder mystery A Likeness In Stone first broadcast in 2000.  It starred Liam Cunningham as a detective inspector determined to solve a case he previously worked on, when the body of a missing student is finally discovered ten years after she went missing.

It had several topless scenes featuring Rebecca Palmer.

Next Friday on the Drama Channel is an episode of Bergerac that featured a Greta Scacchi topless side view scene.  It is the final episode of the first series The Hood and The Harlequin.

When this episode was shown last year on the channel I didn't mention it because I assumed it would be edited for daytime broadcast, but it turned out not to be (perhaps it was deemed OK for daytime because her nipples are not seen?).

Now that the episode has come around again I'll mention it for anyone interested.

Killing Me Softly Mix-Up

Yesterday (2nd May) at 9pm the film billed to be shown on the True Entertainment channel was Killing Me Softly starring Heather Graham.  My listings magazine and the Freeview EPG both gave plot details and character names that indicated it would be this 2002 film.

I was planning on watching it since I'd not seen it before, but then when it started it unexpectedly turned out not to be that film at all!

Instead it was an unheralded showing of a BBC TV rarity from 1996, also called Killing Me Softly, starring Maggie O'Neill as a woman who is driven to extreme measures by her violent alcoholic husband.  It was originally shown in the Screen One strand.  It was unedited with all the expected nudity intact.

Clearly I couldn't issue a "heads up" post for it on this occasion because of the incorrect billing - but True Entertainment do have a tendency to show things again every few months so when/if it comes round again I'll post an alert.

It could well be that True Entertainment have some sort of tap into these now rarely-if-ever seen BBC Screen One/Screen Two films because a few months ago they showed Saigon Baby starring Douglas Hodge and Kerry Fox which was a Screen Two from 1995.

New Section: The Topless Review Guides

LINK: http://www.toplessreview.altervista.org/TopRevGuideHome.htm

A new section of the site has been created called The Topless Review Guides
The idea of it is to take the cast lists of popular British TV series and indicate for each episode which actresses have some known nudity in other TV shows, films or in magazine photos or paparazzi uncoverings.

To begin with two guides have been created, both for Doctor Who
  • One for the Classic Era up the 1996 Television Movie;
  • And the other for the Modern Series from 2005 onwards.

If you spot any missing information it can be reported via this blog.

More Guides will follow if it there is sufficient interest.
